2023 Preview

After being tossed from the Select Division I playoffs in the second round last season, the Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams will enter the 2022 season with both a chip on their shoulder and a target on their backs.

After winning back-to-back titles in 2019 and 2020, head coach Matt McCullough will look to return Acadiana to their spot atop the District 3-5A heap after going 8-4 last year.

With several starters returning to the offense, including junior receiver Russell Babineaux (5-9, 175), junior QB Caden DiBetta (6-2, 195) and senior running back Ezekiel Hypolite (5-10, 175), the Wreckin’ Rams will once again turn to the Split Back Veer formation that Rams fans have come to know and love.

Senior CB Maurice Brown (6-0, 175) and junior safety Keeman Thibodeaux (5-11, 175) will provide leadership and hard hits to Acadiana’s secondary.

With nine teams in District 3-5A, Acadiana won’t have many opportunities to see new faces this season after scheduling perennial powerhouses Lafayette Christian and John Curtis Christian in Weeks 1 and 7, respectively.
