2025 GeauxPreps Class 1A Football Players to Watch

Isaiah Washington – Haynesville – 2026
Isaiah Washington, a recent LSU commit, is one of Louisiana’s top prospects in the Class of 2026. The 6’2″, 170-pounder has been a driving force for the Golden Tornado. Guiding them to back-to-back state championship appearances. Ranked as the No. 12 player in the state by On3, Washington showcases elite versatility on both sides of the ball, serving as the Tornado’s quarterback and top safety.

Roderick Tezeno – Opelousas Catholic – 2026
A wide receiver from Opelousas Catholic who committed to USC on April 30th, bringing elite playmaking ability to the Trojans’ 2026 class. At 6’2″, 175 pounds, Tezeno is ranked as the No. 9 player in Louisiana by On3, and his junior season backed up that ranking, amassing 46 catches for over 1,000 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Sami Abdelhak – Southern Lab – 2026
Abdelhak is a 6’3″, 305-pound offensive lineman in the Class of 2026 and is ranked as the No. 43 player in Louisiana by On3. Abdelhak recently reopened his recruitment after decommitting from South Alabama. Still uncommitted, he remains one of the top offensive linemen in the state, drawing attention for his potential to anchor an offensive front at the next level.

Javonte Williams – Jeanerette – 2026
Jeanerette’s Javonte Williams is one of Louisiana’s top two-way athletes in the Class of 2026. At 6’2″, 240 pounds, the two-time all-state selection checks in as the No. 27 player in the state, according to On3. His athleticism carries over into track & field, where he claimed a 1A state title in the shot put.
Javon Vital Jr. – Hamilton Christian – 2027
Hamilton Christian’s Javon Vital Jr. is the definition of a do-it-all athlete. A playmaker and the No. 12 player in Louisiana’s 2027 class per On3, Vital excels at nearly every position on the field: quarterback, running back, wide receiver, cornerback, and even return specialist. As a sophomore, he rushed for 1,503 yards, threw for 1,239 yards and 18 touchdowns, and accounted for 47 total scores.
That’s not all… He led Hamilton Christian to an LHSAA basketball state championship, earning Most Outstanding Player honors with a near triple-double: 20 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks, and 3 steals.
