Joining him among Louisiana natives making their mark in the minors is Barbe’s Kyle DeBarge. The second baseman, ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the Minnesota Twins organization, played this season with the High-A Cedar Rapids Kernels, hitting .237 with 109 hits, 23 doubles, and eight home runs.

Defensively, DeBarge appeared in 73 games at second base, recording 125 putouts, 289 assists, 31 double plays, posting a .979 fielding percentage.

Before turning pro, DeBarge was one of Barbe’s best, where he helped lead the Bucs to a 39-2 record and the Class 5A state championship as a senior. He posted the best throw-out percentage and most stolen bases by a catcher in Barbe history and was named Class 5A All-State, All-District, and All-Southwest.
