Alexandria Named GeauxPreps Football Team of the Week

In a 5A showdown, the Alexandria Trojans moved past West Monroe with a 45-35 victory, improving their record to an undefeated 6-0 this season. The game kicked off with the Trojans scoring quickly as quarterback Karsen Sellers connected with Alex Fontenot for a 7-yard touchdown pass, putting ASH up 7-0 after the first quarter.

West Monroe responded, tying the game at 7-7 with a 40-yard rushing touchdown from Christian Pontie. However, Alexandria answered back with a touchdown run from JT Lindsey, reclaiming the lead at 14-7. As the first half progressed, both teams continued to battle and the score was knotted at 14 at the half.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair, with the Trojans initially pulling ahead 21-14, only for the Rebels to tie it again. Sellers found Tanner Townsend for another touchdown, making it 28-28, but West Monroe quickly responded, taking a 35-31 lead with just over 7 minutes left in the game.

Senior H-back/tight end Tanner Townsend plays a huge role in the Trojans’ offense both as a pass-catcher and a run-blocker.
The Trojans are averaging over 430 yards of offense per game this season.

With the game hanging in the balance, LSU commit JT Lindsey stepped up in the final minutes, scoring twice.
