Calvary Baptist Alum Sam Burns Set for 2024 President’s Cup in Montreal

Calvary Baptist Academy alum Sam Burns is set to compete in the 2024 President’s Cup at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec, Canada, marking his second appearance in the event.

Burns, one of the most decorated junior golfers in Louisiana high school history, helped lead Calvary Baptist Academy to five consecutive state championships from 2010-2014.

He captured three individual state titles, including back-to-back LHSAA Division III victories with scores of 2-under-par 140 in 2013 and 8-under-par 134 in 2014 at East Ridge in Shreveport.

He was also the 2012 LHSAA Division IV State Champion with a score of -6 at Atchafalaya Country Club.

The 2024 President’s Cup will span four days and feature 30 matches. Today, five four-ball matches will be played. Friday will feature foursome matches. Saturday’s competition will include eight matches, split between four-ball and foursome formats in the morning and afternoon sessions.

Championship Sunday will culminate with 12 singles matches, with each player facing an opponent one-on-one. The first team to reach 15.5 points will claim the title.
