Carencro Bears Named GeauxPreps Football Team of the Week

An unbelievable ending… the Carencro Bears snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with a last-second Hail Mary. As time expired, Freshman quarterback Carson Gurzi took a deep shot from 41 yards out.
Gurzi’s pass soared through the air, deflecting off teammates’ and defenders’ hands before landing in the end zone with freshman Brandon Duffy, sealing a 26-21 win over Sulphur.
Sulphur had put together an impressive 10-play drive that ate up nearly five minutes on the clock, taking the lead for the first time and setting up what they thought was a game-winning moment.
But Carencro had one more trick up their sleeve, proving that it’s never over until the final whistle.
With the win, Carencro and their young stars earn the well-deserved GeauxPreps Team of the Week honors!
