Cecilia’s Dennis Skains Joins East Ascension After Championship Run

After nearly a decade of building Cecilia into a football powerhouse, head coach Dennis Skains is moving on. Skains, who led the Bulldogs to a 71-39 record over nine seasons, is joining the staff at East Ascension, marking the end of an era for Cecilia football.

Under his leadership, the Bulldogs made the playoffs every season, reached back-to-back state championship games, and captured the 2024 Division II Non-Select State Championship.

At East Ascension, Skains joins head coach Brock Matherne, who is assembling a coaching staff loaded with experience and championship pedigree. Earlier this year, Matherne brought in Teurlings Catholic head coach and alum Dane Charpentier as the offensive coordinator, and now, adding Skains only strengthens the Spartans’ pursuit of a championship.
