Edna Karr vs. American Heritage (FL)

Edna Karr (1-0) comes in red-hot after a 35-0 shutout of defending DII select state champion, Archbishop Shaw. Quarterback John Johnson, the 2024 DI Select State Championship Most Outstanding Player, will lead the Cougars into the Caesars Superdome against one of the nation’s best.

American Heritage (1-1), loaded with 10 players ranked by 247Sports, is looking to bounce back from a 28-24 loss to Chaminade-Madonna.

Prediction: Edna Karr 27, American Heritage 21

Jewel Sumner vs. Kentwood

Rivalry week came early this year, Jewel Sumner (1-0), led by 2024 LFCA All-State Honorable Mention RB Jeremiah Brooks, looks to go back-to-back after a 41-18 victory over St. Helena in its opener.

Kentwood (0-1) won’t go down easy after falling to East Feliciana, 32-26. Expect plenty of emotion as these two parish rivals clash again.

Prediction: Jewel Sumner 27, Kentwood 18

Calvary vs. Neville

After a Week 1 victory at Oak Grove, Calvary (1-0) heads to Monroe for a test against Neville (1-0). Calvary’s Braylun Huglon is coming off a monster performance, tallying 105 receiving yards, 2 TDs, and a rushing score.

Neville, ranked #4 in this week’s LSWA 5A poll, defeated Evangel in a gritty 33-32 win thanks to clutch special teams play – a blocked field goal in the waning seconds of the game. Neville is looking to go back-to-back over Calvary winning last year’s matchup, 42-38.

Prediction: Neville 31, Calvary 17

Catholic-BR vs. St. Thomas More

Catholic High (1-0) proved its toughness in a 32-23 win over Destrehan, with running back Justin Batiste powering the Bears with 4 touchdowns.

They’ll need him again as they take on St. Thomas More (0-1), who suffered a season-opening loss to Carencro. STM still has plenty of firepower, led by quarterback Cole Bergeron (Virginia Tech commit), and will be eager to rebound in Baton Rouge.

Prediction: Catholic 27, STM 24

Rummel vs. University Lab

After a 27-26 loss to LCA in Week 1, Rummel (0-1) is aiming for redemption in the Caesars Superdome. The Raiders will look to lean on junior running back Jaden Terrance to spark the offense.

University Lab (1-0), meanwhile, is fresh off a 49-8 opening win over Woodlawn-BR, fueled by running back Sage Ingram’s 144-yard performance. The Cubs are led by OL/DL Lamar Brown, the nation’s No. 1 overall athlete in the Class of 2026 according to On3 and an LSU commit.

Prediction: University Lab 27, Rummel 24
