Mangham (5-1) vs #9 Ferriday (5-0)
Mangham rolls into Week 6 red-hot after a 42-8 win over Madison, extending a stretch that’s seen the Dragons average 44.2 points per game while the defense is allowing just 21.2.
Ferriday, ranked #9 in this week’s LSWA Class 2A poll, has been rolling offensively, averaging over 50 points per game with big showings of 54, 56, 69, 50, and 26. The Trojans’ defense has held firm as well, allowing just 12 points per contest.
Prediction: Mangham 34, Ferriday 30
#3 Ruston (4-1) vs Ouachita Parish (5-0)
Ruston looks to rebound after falling to Texas powerhouse Stephenville in week 5. The Bearcats have only faced one Louisiana opponent thus far, drumming Acadiana, 49-7.
Ouachita Parish, sitting at a perfect 5-0, is coming off a 42-14 victory over Franklin Parish. The Lions have been balanced, averaging 38 ppg while giving up just 13. Ruston pulled out a 1 point win in 2024, Ouachita hopes to redeem themselves this year.
Prediction: Ruston 27, Ouachita Parish 14
#3 Madison Prep (4-1) vs #6 Southern Lab (3-3)
Madison Prep is firing on all cylinders after a 55-3 blowout win over Parkview Baptist in week 5. The Chargers will look to make it two straight over Southern Lab following last year’s double-digit win.
Southern Lab has had a roller-coaster start to 2025. After a three-game win streak, the Kittens stumbled against Denham Springs last week and now aim to regroup at home.
Prediction: Madison Prep 37, Southern Lab 14
#10 Evangel (5-0) vs Captain Shreve (4-1)
Few teams have been as explosive as Evangel, led by LSU commit Peyton Houston, who’s orchestrated an offense averaging over 50 points per game. The Eagles have certainly circled this one after last year’s wild 77-76 overtime loss to Shreve.
Captain Shreve, led by running back Jamarcea Plater, who became the school’s all-time rushing leader in week 5, has powered its way to a 4-1 start. If the Gator defense can hold strong, Plater has the ability to control tempo on the ground could help keep Evangel’s high-powered offense off the field.
Prediction: Evangel 42, Captain Shreve 17
#2 Lafayette Christian (4-1) vs #7 Lafayette Renaissance (5-0)
LCA proved its pedigree again last week, taking down defending state champion Central in a 55-48 win. The Knights, who beat LRCA 34-19 last season, are looking to build momentum for another title run.
Lafayette Renaissance comes in undefeated, averaging 38 points per game and allowing just 9. Their defense has been sharp, but this will be their toughest test in 2025.
Prediction: Lafayette Christian 34, Lafayette Renaissance 18
