GeauxPreps.com Writers Earn LSWA Honors

GeauxPreps.com is proud to recognize William Weathers and Robin Fambrough for earning honors in the 2025 Louisiana Sports Writers Association Annual Contest, presented on June 28th in Natchitoches.

Weathers earned first place in Prep Event – Class II for his story on the Central basketball team hosting a touring team from Australia. LSWA Judges praised the story for its strong scene-setting lede, timely angle and detailed look at the unique circumstances surrounding the international matchup. Read the story here!

Weathers also captured first place in General Sports Feature – Class II for his feature on Franklin Parish football coach Adrian Burnette, who walked his daughter Andrané during homecoming festivities before heading back to the field to coach the second half in a suit. Sportswriters association judges called it “a delightful retelling of a unique scenario” and noted how the story weaved together multiple perspectives. Read his story here!

Fambrough earned third place in General Sports Feature – Class II for her feature on Jena’s Prep Classic berth, a dream come true for a program long in pursuit of that breakthrough moment. Read her story here!
