GeauxPreps Impact Players from Week 9: Standout Performances Across Louisiana

Week 9 in Louisiana high school football did not disappoint! We saw record-breaking runs, huge catches, and defenses making those game-changing stops just when it mattered. We’re just 1 week away from the start of the playoffs so stay tuned!

KD Mays – Central

KD Mays was a game-changer for Central in their 14-3 win over Zachary.

Playing at linebacker, Mays was all over the field, racking up 11 tackles (8 solo and 3 assisted) and keeping the pressure on with 2 sacks that pushed Zachary back 12 yards. He also notched 4 tackles for loss, costing the Broncos another 19 yards.

Mays’s standout performance anchored Central’s defense and played a huge part in holding Zachary to just a field goal.


John Johnson – Edna Karr

John Johnson was on fire for Edna Karr in their 35-14 victory over John Curtis. He went 21 for 25 with 268 passing yards and racked up 5 total touchdowns—2 through the air and 3 on the ground.

Johnson kept the Patriot defense on its heels all game, leading Karr’s offense with poise and precision. It was a standout night that powered his team to a big win over John Curtis.


Gabe Mocek – St. Thomas More

Gabe Mocek came up big for St. Thomas More in their 48-34 victory over No. 1 Teurlings Catholic.

Mocek ran all over the field with 13 carries for 134 yards and found the end zone 3 times, giving the Cougars the edge.

His strong performance on the ground helped fuel STM’s upset win, showing up right when they needed him most.


Hunter Martin – Logansport

Hunter Martin was unstoppable in their 55-0 blowout over LaSalle, making Coach Kevin Magee’s 100th win one to remember.

Martin tallied 20 tackles and even blocked a punt that he took back for a touchdown.

His hustle and big plays all game long helped seal the shutout and made this milestone victory even sweeter.


Cris Delestre Jr. – Terrebonne

Safety Cris Delestre Jr. had another huge game in his team’s 46-17 win over Thibodaux, making his presence known all over the field.

Delestre recorded 8 tackles (2 assists) and added 3 tackles for loss, pushing Thibodaux back 15 yards.

He also snagged an interception and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown—his second pick-six in just two weeks.


Jack Landry – Erath

Erath quarterback Jack Landry stepped up in a huge game against Kaplan, going 19 for 27 for 264 yards and a touchdown.

His accuracy and composure in the pocket kept the offense rolling and helped secure the win.

Landry’s has been a consistent force for the Bobcats all year and has them poised for a playoff run.


Keenan Butler – Southern Lab

Kennan Butler had a breakout performance in Southern Lab’s 50-7 win over Central Private, catching 2 passes for an incredible 141 yards and 2 touchdowns.

His explosive plays were a huge part of the Kittens’ offensive success, showcasing his big-play ability and turning key passes into game-changing moments.

Butler’s performance helped push Southern Lab to a victory and moving them up the power ratings.


Ken’Wuan Atkins – Jonesboro-Hodge

Defensive lineman Ken’Wuan Atkins had a huge game for Jonesboro-Hodge in their 30-29 win over Glenbrook.

He was all over the field, finishing with 10 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and a sack.

Atkins’ tough, physical play helped disrupt Glenbrook’s offense and made a big impact in the tight victory, stepping up when his team needed him the most.


Jamarcea Plater – Captain Shreve

Running back Jamarcea Plater had an incredible performance in the Gators’ 63-34 win over Haughton, scoring 5 touchdowns.

His explosive plays helped lead the team to a big victory, and he’s now up to 2,213 total yards and 28 touchdowns on the season.

Captain Shreve now sits in the #19 spot in the GeauxPreps Power Ratings, Plater hops to carry the Gators all the way to Superdome.


Jake Randle – Newman

Jake Randle was unstoppable for Newman in their 42-7 win over Country Day, rushing for 205 yards on 14 carries and scoring 5 touchdowns.

His big runs and ability to break through the defense played a huge role in the Greenies’ week 9 victory.

Newman sits at #2 in the GeauxPreps Power Ratings and are looking to make a deep playoff run.
