GeauxPreps Names 2025 Football Coaches of the Year

Class 5A — Brice Brown, Edna Karr

Karr’s Brice Brown continues to set the standard in Louisiana high school football. The Edna Karr head coach guided the Cougars to their second consecutive undefeated season, capping off a 14-0 campaign with a 49–14 victory over rival St. Aug in the state title game. Brown now owns a 128–17 career record at Edna Karr and has led the program to six state championships.


Class 4A — John Sella, Loyola

Sella led the Flyers to a 10 win season (6-1 in district play) and a state quarterfinal appearance, powered by one of the most explosive offenses in the state. Loyola averaged 51.8 points per game, with multiple 60- and 70-point performances throughout the season. After a 7–5 finish in 2024, the Flyers took a major step forward in 2025 and now return All-GeauxPreps and All-State Honorable Mention quarterback Bryce Restovich for the 2026 season.


Class 3A — Eric LeBlanc, Erath

Eric LeBlanc guided Erath to the first perfect season in school history, as the Bobcats were prolific on both sides of the ball. Erath averaged 40.5 points per game on offense while allowing just 8.8 points per game on defense, posting four shutouts along the way. The Bobcats also won a district title on the way to a regional round appearance in the state playoffs.


Class 2A — Neil Weiner, Dunham

Neil Weiner delivered, leading the Tigers to their second straight state championship appearance and the program’s first state title win since 2004. Dunham finished 13–1 overall and 6–0 in district play. Dunham is now 26–2 over the last two seasons, firmly establishing Dunham as a Class 2A powerhouse.


Class 1A — Byron Porter, Westminster Christian

Byron Porter led Westminster Christian (Opelousas) to its first undefeated season since the 2010–11 season and its first district championship (6-0) since 2016, while also guiding the Crusaders to the first state semifinal appearance in school history. A season-defining movement came in a 48-35 overtime win over Opelousas Catholic on November 21st. Westminster averaged 41.8 points per game and allowed just 16.4 points per game on the defensive side.
