Judge Upholds LHSAA Decision: U-High Removed from Playoff Bracket

On Monday, U-High failed to convince a judge to overturn the LHSAA’s decision requiring the team to forfeit their previous wins due to ineligible players.

As a result, the Cubs’ record now stands at 1-9, disqualifying them from the Division II Select playoffs. The revised bracket now shows Booker T. Washington-New Orleans advancing with a bye and set to face the winner of Friday night’s second-round matchup between Leesville and Loyola.

The legal dispute stemmed from an LHSAA investigation that determined U-High had violated eligibility rules, leading to the forfeiture of regular-season victories. Despite the school’s efforts to challenge the decision in court, the judge upheld the LHSAA’s ruling, leaving U-High officially out of the playoff picture.

A note from the LHSAA Handbook: 5.7.1 Any member school, including an administrator, athletic director, and/or coach, who is party to a suit against the Association, shall be held liable for all legal fees, attorney’s expenses, and court costs if the final decision of the case is in favor of the LHSAA.
