Making an Impact: GeauxPreps Week 3 Impact Players
by Marshall Loeffler // GeauxPreps.com
There were some great individual efforts in some big games in Week 3, and while this may not be the ten very best performances, here is a list of guys that I thought were huge for their team:
Xavier Johnson – St. James
The Wildcats RB found the end zone four times in Week 3, including three goal-line scores and a 45-yard touchdown. Johnson had over 200 yards rushing on the way to a 43-14 victory over Terrebonne and another 3-0 record.
Lakin Fillinich – South Lafourche
The sophomore RB delivered a historic performance in a 55-36 rivalry win over Central Lafourche, rushing 27 times for a school-record 401 yards and 5 TDs. He also had a 30-yard kickoff return; Fillinich racked up 431 total yards on the night.
Kerston Diddon – Franklinton
Following up his game-winning TD pass to Jayden Burkhalter against Covington in Week 2, the Demons QB set a school record with 5 total touchdowns (including 3 to Burkhalter) to help lead Franklinton to a 48-20 victory over Pine.
Jermond Macklin – Edna Karr
The Cougars RB did his job, running 15 times for 80 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning score in the Superdome, to lead Edna Karr to a 21-14 victory over Ruston in one of the most hyped regular season games of the past few years.
Tanner Koerner – Denham Springs
The senior RB turned in a massive game on a big night for the Yellow Jackets, rushing 24 times for 179 yards and four touchdowns while adding three returns for 71 yards in a record-setting 73-54 victory over Woodlawn-BR.
Hayden Bell – North DeSoto
The senior LB/RB back recorded 20 tackles and had a rushing touchdown in the Griffins’ win over Byrd. The Griffins are 3-0 for the second straight year, and getting past Byrd was a key early season test for the Division II Non-Select Runner Up.
Parker Robinson – Neville
The Neville quarterback threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns while adding 46 rushing yards and a rushing score to power the Tigers to a 49-0 victory over the defending state champion Ouachita Lions.
Jerzyion Levingston – Homer
Even though they lost to Haynesville in the Claiborne Parish Super Bowl, Levingston was on fire for Homer, racked up 195 yards on 8 catches and had 4 rec TDs. The Golden Tornado held on to beat the Pelicans as the 119th edition of the game came down to the final play.
Colby Casey – Mangham
The Mangham QB was efficient and effective, completing 10 of 11 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns while adding 11 rushes for 115 yards to power Mangham to a big-time 52-24 victory over Oak Grove.
Justin Williams – Southside
The Sharks got their first win, largely due to Williams’ five-touchdown performance against Union Parish in Week 3. He racked up 324 rushing yards on 16 attempts in Southside’s convincing 49-7 win over the Farmers.
