Emma Richey, a senior setter for Mount Carmel, had an unforgettable week on the volleyball court, leading her team to a flawless 3-0 record that included a pair of critical district victories and a marquee win over a Top 5 Division I opponent in the Power Rankings. The highlight? Richey notched her 3,000th career assist on a clutch match point and then set a new personal best in assists the very next game. Here’s a breakdown of her record-setting performances across all three matches.

Wednesday, October 23 – Fontainebleau

Going into the match against Fontainebleau, Richey was sitting 43 assists shy of 3,000, a significant milestone in her high school career. Fontainebleau came into the week ranked higher than Mt. Carmel, and Richey rose to the occasion. The match lasted only three sets, with Mt. Carmel sweeping 3-0, but that didn’t stop Richey from hitting her target. On match point, she logged her 43rd assist, reaching her 3,000th career assist in a big way.

Richey was a perfect 16-for-16 from the serving line, added an ace and a block, and helped fuel her team to an impressive win over a top-ranked opponent.

Thursday, October 24 – at Chapelle

Barely a night after achieving her 3,000th assist, Richey was back in action and seemed determined to top her own performance. In a 3-1 road victory against Chapelle, she recorded a career-high 55 assists, showing her consistency and leadership in a tight district match. Richey was also flawless at the service line, going 25-for-25 with two aces, two kills, and 13 digs.

Tuesday, October 22 – John Ehret

Mt. Carmel faced John Ehret earlier in the week, and while most starters, including Richey, were pulled midway through the second set, she still made her presence felt. Richey racked up 22 assists, went 15-for-17 in serving with five aces, and added a kill as Mt. Carmel sailed to a quick 25-4, 25-4, 25-5 win.\
