Chad Elzy – Ascension Catholic

Chad Elzy was on another level in Ascension Catholic’s 40-35 quarterfinal win over Riverside. The star running back ran wild, piling up 357 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. As if that wasn’t enough, he added two catches for 12 yards and a receiving touchdown to cap off his monster night. Elzy’s six total touchdowns were the difference in a back-and-forth shootout, helping the Bulldogs punch their ticket to the semifinals in style. They’ll host #11 Ouachita Christian on Friday night for a chance at the Dome.

Ron Patterson – Bunkie

Ron Patterson came up clutch when Bunkie needed him the most in their 14-12 quarterfinal win over Jewel Sumner. With the Panthers trailing late in the fourth quarter, Patterson made the play of the game, intercepting a pass and taking it 90 yards to the house for a game-changing pick-six. The cornerback was all over the field, finishing with seven solo tackles, four assists, one tackle for loss, and a pass breakup. Patterson’s huge performance helped seal a dramatic comeback win and earned him Defensive Player of the Week honors. The Panthers will travel to #1 Dunham for a chance to head to New Orleans to compete for a State Championship.
