Still Perfect: Ten Undefeated Teams Cruise into the Quarterfinals

Only ten Louisiana high school football teams completed the regular season undefeated and are now charging into the quarterfinals. Below is a look into their regional round wins and their upcoming quarterfinal matchups.
#2 Airline
The #2-seeded Airline Vikings continued their impressive run with a 42-16 victory over #18 Westgate. LSU commit Kenny Darby once again showed out with 8 catches for 135 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Ben Taylor completed 18 of 26 passes for 2 touchdowns and added another score on the ground. DJ Allen found the end zone twice, with contributions from Derrian Milligan and Terrance Hays rounding out the offensive explosion. The Vikings now face a strong test in #10 Destrehan, who is coming off a dominant 63-21 win over #7 Northwood.
#2 Alexandria
Alexandria’s suffocating defense proved too much for Evangel as they rolled to a 49-6 victory. The Trojans intercepted one of the state’s best in Peyton Houston three times, including a pick-six by Cartez Simon. On offense, LSU commit JT Lindsey ran wild with 220 yards on 17 carries, while Vaughn Darbon added 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Trojans are set for an exciting quarterfinal clash with #10 C.E. Byrd, who upset #7 St. Paul’s 37-15.
#5 Bunkie
The #5 Bunkie Panthers cruised past #12 Amite, 39-14. Quarterback Dillon Compton went 10-15 with 4 touchdowns, including an 8-yard run, a 38-yard touchdown pass, and connections with Cain Milligan for scores of 30 and 33 yards, building a 26-7 halftime lead. On the ground, both Zion Lee and Jateren Gaines rushed for over 90 yards each, with Gaines sealing the win in the second half. The Panthers’ defense stayed strong, with Kenterriius Franks recording 8 tackles and Luke Normand adding 6 tackles. Bunkie advances to face #4 Jewel Sumner, who defeated #13 Slaughter Community 48-28.
#4 Catholic-BR
The #4 Catholic High Bears dominated East Jefferson, racing to a 42-0 halftime lead in a decisive victory. Rylan Parker found the end zone twice, while Cohen LeBlanc showcased his versatility with a spectacular 59-yard punt return touchdown. Quarterback Baylor Graves was sharp, tossing two touchdown passes, including a strike to Amari Clayton. The Bears will host #5 Archbishop Rummel after teh defeated #12 McDonogh #35 50-25.
#3 Covenant Christian
Covenant Christian rolled past #13 Central Catholic, 41-13, led by quarterback Owen Trosclair, who connected with Jaden Carter for two deep touchdown passes. Carsen Hebert was instrumental on both sides of the ball, recording two sacks and stretching the Lions’ lead before halftime. Covenant Christian’s defense held firm in the second half, setting up a quarterfinal showdown with #11 Ouachita Christian, who defeated #6 Catholic-PC 28-6.
#1 Dunham
Dunham continues to dominate, shutting out #16 Parkview Baptist 42-0. Their standout quarterback Elijah Haven, ranked #1 in the class of 2027 by On3, amassed 406 total yards, including 335 passing and 81 rushing, with 4 total touchdowns. Trevor Haman scored twice in the first half, while Rives Johnson added a defensive touchdown on a pick-six. Allowing just over 100 total yards, Dunham’s defense remained impenetrable. They’ll face a challenging matchup against #9 Lafayette Christian, fresh off a 35-28 victory over #8 Notre Dame.
#1 Edna Karr
Edna Karr made a statement with a dominant 56-6 win over #17 Huntington. LSU commit TaRon Francis went for 175 yards and two touchdowns on six catches, while quarterback John Johnson accounted for five touchdowns and 324 passing yards. Defensively, Dwayne Wilson and Romeo Brown added scores on a fumble return and an interception return. The Cougars will face #8 St. Thomas More, who knocked off #9 St. Augustine.
#1 Haynesville
Haynesville showcased its all-around prowess in a 61-0 rout of #16 Montgomery. Fullback Yasin Meadors opened the scoring, followed by a punt return touchdown from Jayden Green. Donnie Critton had a standout night at running back, while Zykerius Fielding added an interception. Haynesville advances to face #9 Welsh, who received a bye after Ferriday and Lake Arthur were removed from the playoffs for fighting.
#2 Newman
Newman dominated D’Arbonne Woods with a 49-19 victory. Quarterback Eli Friend was nearly flawless, completing 14 of 15 passes for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Greenies’ defense stifled a high-scoring D’Arbonne Woods offense, limiting them to just 19 points. Newman now prepares for a marquee matchup against #7 Catholic-NI in what promises to be a great quarterfinal clash.
#1 Vermilion Catholic
Vermilion Catholic soared past #16 Westminster Christian with a 47-17 win. Quarterback Jonathan Dartez led the charge, passing for 86 yards and 2 touchdowns while rushing for 199 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Eagles, averaging over 10 yards per carry, will host #8 St. Edmund in their next playoff matchup. St. Edmund knocked off #9 St. Martin’s Episcopal with a score of 78-37.
