Dramatic Finishes define the night

Notre Dame vs Catholic-New Iberia

One of Louisiana’s undefeated teams fell in overtime. Notre Dame trailed 28-0 at the half, but their defense pitched a second-half shutout. Drew Lejeune connected with Brice Duhon with nine seconds left to tie it at 28, then Lejeune scored the game-winner in overtime as the defense held for a 35-34 victory.

Brother Martin vs Jesuit

Hudson Fields and Justin Morgan each threw TD passes to Easton Royal, and Luca Ascani added a rushing score to give the Crusaders a lead. Jesuit fought back with a 66-yard kickoff return TD by Ja’ir Burks, plus late rushing scores by Vandenweghe III and Michael Cerutti to take a 29-28 lead late in the 4th.

Brother Martin drove down the field for Maximo Barrios to drill a 38-yard field goal with seconds remaining to secure the win for Brother Martin.

Evangel vs Airline

LSU is getting two dynamic playmakers in Airline’s Kenny Darby and Evangel’s Peyton Houston, who dueled all night. Airline held a 14-point halftime lead, but Evangel battled back with a 99-yard fumble return for a touchdown, a costly Airline turnover, and a safety off a bad snap. Airline entered the game on a 17-game win streak, going 29-1 in their last 30 games. Evangel 51, Airline 49.

West Monroe vs Catholic-BR

West Monroe rallied from an early deficit to take down Catholic 27-24. Christian Ponti’s third-quarter touchdown gave the Rebels their first lead at 20-14, but Catholic answered with a Turner Goldsmith pass to Dyer Chambers and a Tanner Forbes extra point to go up 21-20.

After recovering an onside kick, Catholic added a 31-yard field goal, but West Monroe converted a crucial 4th down with Brady Guillot on a keeper and followed with a game-winning TD pass to Sam Turner in the final minute.

Booker T Washington (Shreveport) vs Bossier

Booker T. Washington pulled off a last-second thriller, rallying from a 34-41 deficit late in the 4th. With time expired, quarterback Devion Stewart’s pass drew a pass interference penalty, placing BTW in the red zone. Stewart threw a touchdown on the untimed down, and the Lions converted the two-point attempt on the next play. BTW 42, Bossier 41

Comeaux vs Rayne

Our final last-second victory belongs to Comeaux. The Spartans defeated Rayne 41-38. Rayne took a 38-34 lead with three minutes remaining, but on 4th-and-12, Comeaux converted on a reverse. Jaden Celestine then scored his fifth touchdown of the night, the game-winner, to seal the comeback.
