Damari Drake, Evangel

Evangel’s ground game came alive behind running back Damari Drake, who ran for 233 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Eagles past previously undefeated Parkway. Drake’s performance helped secure the District 1-5A championship for Evangel.

The Eagles have a bye this week as the #8 seed and will face the winner of #9 St. Paul’s & #24 Pineville in the regional round of the playoffs.

Darryus McKinley, Acadiana

Acadiana’s defensive front was relentless in a 21-14 win over Carencro, led by senior defensive end Darryus McKinley. McKinley finished with 10.5 tackles, including 5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and three quarterback hurries to spark the Rams’ defense.

The Rams need another game-changing performance from McKinley as Acadiana and Carencro square off again in the first round of the playoffs.
