Week 4: GeauxPreps Offensive and Defensive Football Players of the Week

Ben Taylor – Airline

Airline High School quarterback Ben Taylor has been named the GeauxPreps Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Vikings to a 47-42 victory over Evangel.

When Evangel took a 42-41 lead with just 3:47 remaining, there was no panic from Taylor or the Vikings.

With the game on the line, Taylor orchestrated a 77-yard drive, capping it off with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Darby with one minute left.

Taylor finished the game with an impressive 391 yards and four touchdowns on 22-of-35 passing, bringing his career totals to 9,546 passing yards and 101 touchdowns.

His poise and leadership under pressure were crucial, helping Airline improve to 4-0 on the season.


Matthew Hebert – St. Louis Catholic

St. Louis Catholic linebacker Matthew Hebert has been named the GeauxPreps Defensive Player of the Week after an outstanding performance in the Saints’ 29-22 victory over Washington-Marion.

Hebert was a force on defense, recording 8 total tackles, including 2 for a loss, and a sack that resulted in significant yardage lost.

His playmaking didn’t stop there, as he snagged 2 crucial interceptions, broke up a pass, and forced a fumble, proving instrumental in securing the win.

Hebert’s all-around defensive effort was key in helping St. Louis Catholic edge out Washington-Marion, 29-22.
