2022 Preview
New coach Stephen Hearon inherits a team that returns over half of its starters from a year ago as well as a tough pre-district slate that could provide challenges as the Blue Gators find a new identity under a revamped. coaching staff.
Senior quarterback Cade Dardar (2,010 yards, 24 TDs passing), one of last year's top passers, returns to lead an offense which returns seven including top target Austin Mills (554 yards, 8 TDs receiving).
On defense, the Gators only return five but bring back experienced linebacker Hunter Fontenot (74.5 tackles, 1 sack) from last year's quarterfinal team. Seniors Cole Colligan, Blake Sylvester and Evans Dupuis are also expected to provide big plays throughout the season.
Senior kicker Peyton Woodring returns for his final season after making 44 of 45 PATs a year ago and was also 13-of-17 on field goals.
A tough non-district slate awaits Ascension Episcopal who hosts Class 4A Plaquemine at home to begin the season before making the trip to Vermilion Catholic in Week 2. Other foes include Patterson, Breaux Bridge and West St. John.
