2022 Preview

A new era begins as first-year head coach Adam Kirby brings a fresh perspective to one of the most consistent football programs in northwest Louisiana.

Captain Shreve hopes to build on a 10-win season that saw the Gators share the District 1-5A title and advance into the second round of the Class 5A playoffs. Despite the loss of some key firepower that helped reel in a successful 2021 campaign, Kirby and his Gators have worked hard over the offseason in hopes of keeping the momentum rolling this season.

If Shreve remains healthy and starts clicking on all cylinders early in the season, expect the Gators to be in the mix for another District 1-5A title as well as a strong run in the postseason. Offensively, six returners are back with senior Kenyon Terrell (2,063 yards, 22 TDs) leading the charge.

On defense, Kirby will have to rebuild the unit with the loss of six starters from a year ago. Senior Scotty Simo will be looked to for leadership guidance as the defense navigates its way through a tough pre-district schedule.

The Gators open the season at home with contests against Loyola Prep and Calvary Baptist before making the trip to northeast Louisiana for a date with Union Parish on Sept. 16. District contests include home events against Airline, Natchitoches Central, Southwood and Haughton.
