2023 Preview

D'Arbonne Woods enters the 2023 season as a young team but it's the experience returning at key positions that could help bump Tommy Tharp's squad to the next level in his third year at the helm.

For the first time in program history, the Timberwolves advanced to the postseason for a consecutive year while posting six victories with little experience. Tharp hopes that 12 returning starters will help condition the team to grow up quickly with a competitive schedule on the horizon.

Offensively, the line will be the anchor of the unit with the return of All-District selection Shawn Basey, Jordan Nance, Hayden Williams as well as sophomore Brody Towns while Weston Jones and Wyatt Gilbert battle for the starting QB position. There is also plenty of weapons returning in skill positions including Doran Sadler, Eli Redd, Wyatt Gilbert, Jackson Nolan and Kevin Rodriguez. Senior Hayden Gray and sophomore Narciso Valerio will be looked upon to contribute offensively.

On defense, the Wolves return All-District linebacker Jame Fisher who is set to lead a linebacker corp that looks to anchor the unit while secondary coverage will be handled by Jones, Gilbert, loan as well as a flock of underclassmen. Tharp noted that several younger players could see significant playing time pending summer workouts and fall practice participation. Valerio, Colin McCann, P.J. Jones and Hayden Gray will handle defensive line duty.

The Wolves open the season with three non-district home games including an out-of-state clash at Drew Central, Ark. before battling the likes of Calvary Baptist, Loyola Prep and North Caddo for the District 1-2A crown.
