2022 Preview
In his first two seasons at the helm, Brett Beard had to build his team his way. After suffering through a one-win campaign in his first year, Beard led Denham Springs to six wins and a second-round appearance.
With over 70 returning lettermen back from a year ago combined with 17 total starters, the Yellow Jackets have the tools needed for a deep playoff run in a competitive Class 5A.
Leading the charge is Liberty signee and top quarterback Reese Mooney as well as tailback Ray McKneely who will control the ground game. With nine returners coming back from last season, all key positions will have at least two years of experience.
Defensively, Hayden Rushing leads a slew of returners that will play an integral part in the success of a unit that will be able to control some of the top offensive production in the state.
On the schedule, the Jackets have their hands full with a competitive non-district schedule featuring the likes of Liberty and St. Thomas More while league play includes home games against St. Amant, Dutchtown and Walker with road games at Live Oak and East Ascension.
