Green Oaks looks to bounce back from a one-win season with over a dozen starters returning in the mix.
With a drop-down to Class 2A, the Giants hope for a fresh start in a new district full of competitive teams in northwest Louisiana. Second-year coach Chadwick Lewis is tasked with leading is team into new waters but is excited to expose his young but experienced team to some new competition.
Offensively, the Giants will have to focus on finding a new identity following the departure of several key starters including Nebraska signee De'Coldest Crawford. Lewis is tasked with replacing seven starters headed into the 2022 season with sophomore quarterback Tovoras Lee taking the reins. At receiver, Delarious Marshall will have a big role to fill as he is expected to make an impact early.
On defense, Green Oaks looks to be solid with nine returning from a year ago. Leading the fray are Marshall (41 tackles, 2 INT 2 FR, 1 FF) along with seniors Travis Lewis (64 tackles, 2 FR) and Kashaun Green (33 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF).
Before the Giants enter district play, they will have to navigate a non-district slate which features opponents from larger classifications. In Week 1, Green Oaks will host Class 5A Southwood before two road trips to Carroll (Class 3A) and B.T. Washington of Shreveport (Class 4A) before coming home to host Class 4A foe Peabody. The Giants wrap up non-district play against Alexandria (Class 5A) on the road.
In a new district, Green Oaks takes on the likes of Calvary Baptist, North Caddo and Lakeside on the road while hosting Loyola Prep, and D'Arbonne Woods.
