2023 Preview

If you are expecting a down year from Haughton, please don't make that mistake.

With the return of all-district quarterback Colin Rains as well as a number of key skill returners, the Bucs could keep the scoreboard operators busy this fall. Haughton returns six offensive starters from a year ago but are more athletic in stature and will provide an explosive performance on every snap. Anchoring the offensive line will be senior Peyton Polk who is a threat inside the trenches. Behind Polk and the rest of his line are senior tailback Tyler Rhodes as well as top receiving target Jalen Lewis.

On defense, Connor Blank will be tasked with leading a unit that returns just five starters from last season. Blank will head up the front seven while Connor Blank and D.J. Riser return in key roles in the defensive backfield.

Haughton hosts Red River and LaGrange to kick off the new season before making the trip to Sabine Parish for a Week 3 showdown with Many. Following their non-district outing, the Bucs begin league play at home against Parkway along with other home contests against Southwood, Benton and Natchitoches while traveling to face C.E. Byrd, Airline and Captain Shreve.
