Johnson was efficient in every at bat during last week’s undefeated campaign for the Grace Christian Warriors. Just three years removed from surgery to remove a cyst from the top of his pituitary gland, the senior infielder is thriving, and it showed with a .842 batting average in all five outings that including six extra-base hits as well as 15 runs batted in to help improve the Warriors to 14-3 on the year.

Co-Baseball Player of the Week: Hayden Elliott, Junior, Utility, Catholic of Pointe Coupee

Stat Line (March 13-18): .700 AVG (7-for-10) • 7 RS • 8 RBI • 2 BB • 2 HBP • 3 SB

Elliott’s performance at the plate helped lead Catholic-PC to an undefeated week on the diamond while shooting up the Select Division IV power ratings with victories over five schools from upper classifications. The junior slugger finished with a .700 batting average as he collected seven hits, scored seven runs and drove in eight while successfully stealing three bases. His on-base percentage was just as impressive as he received four additional chances to get on base via walks and hit-by-pitches. The Hornets’ wins came over Lake Charles Prep (Class 3A), Kenner Discovery (Class 4A), Plaquemine (Class 4A), Beau Chene (Class 4A) and Franklinton (Class 4A).
