Cedar Creek, Northlake Christian Take Home Titles On First Day of State Powerlifting Meet

LAFAYETTE – The LHSAA State Powerlifting Meet kicked off in Lafayette with a thunderous display of strength and determination as the first day saw exhilarating competitions in Boy’s Division IV & V.

The day belonged to Cedar Creek, as they asserted their dominance in Division V with an awe-inspiring performance, clinching three first-place finishes and their seventh state title in school history, their first since 2021.

In Division IV, Northlake Christian scripted a remarkable underdog story, overcoming formidable opponents like Episcopal and the three-time defending champions, Many, to claim their maiden state powerlifting championship. The Wolverines displayed grit and tenacity, securing three first-place finishes and two second-place medals, accumulating 41 points to etch their names in the annals of Louisiana powerlifting history.

Ascension Catholic emerged as the worthy runner-up in the overall team standings, amassing 37 points, while Sacred Heart demonstrated their prowess with a commendable tally of 30 points.
