Class 3A’S Strongest Football District

GeauxPreps.com is diving into Louisiana high school football’s strongest districts by classification. Today, we cover Class 3A with an analysis followed by rankings of each district within the classification.
The 3A classification is one of the most competitive in Louisiana high school football.
District 2-3A has proven to be one of the strongest in its class each and every year. This season is no different.
According to Fizz Rankings’ numbers, District 2-3A averaged a 39.048 power ranking. The league is packed with high-octane, smash mouth teams such as Union Parish and Sterlington who have led the way in recent years.
Carroll and Wossman each made playoff appearances last season while Richwood was the lone team to finish without a winning record.
Consistency was a key factor in determining the toughest district for Class 3A. Not only do championships matter but winning percentages, competition played and deep playoff runs play a part in helping to determine the ratings.
Union Parish worked hard and worked often last season with one of the toughest schedules in 3A. The Farmers advanced to the semi-finals where it lost to eventual state champion, St. James. Sterlington defeated two state champions (Ouachita Christian and Oak Grove) during the regular season in 2019 and finished with a 11-1 record losing to Jennings by one point in the quarterfinals.
Carroll finished second in district play after defeating Union Parish in a close game. The Bulldogs also scored wins against two Class 4A programs in 2019. Wossman finished 5-5 highlighted by a victory over a talented Northwood squad out of Shreveport. Both teams lost in the first round of the Class 3A postseason.
Richwood defeated Woodlawn of Shreveport to open the season but was unable to get back into the win column for the rest of the season.
Each district’s ranking will update each season and will take into account all re-classification measures every two years.
