Crescent City Sports to live stream De La Salle-St. Charles, Karr-St. Aug this weekend

NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports’ live streaming coverage of high school football continues this weekend with a pair of key games – one non-district matchup between a pair of perennial title contenders and a district opener with major implications matching historic programs in Orleans Parish.
On Friday, the CCS cameras will be in LaPlace as De La Salle renews its rivalry with two-time defending state champion St. Charles Catholic at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the action shifts to Tad Gormley Stadium for a big District 9-5A opener as Edna Karr takes on St. Augustine at 6:30 p.m. Coverage on CrescentCitySports.com begins 10 minutes prior to kickoff each night. Lenny Vangilder and Jonah Keller will describe Friday’s action, while Vashon Jones and Ro Brown have the call on Saturday.
Friday’s matchup features one-time district foes meeting for the seventh consecutive year. In that span, each team has won three times, including a 27-14 De La Salle victory last year.
The Cavaliers went unbeaten in the regular season in 2022 but are 1-2 this year, losing to Holy Cross and St. Paul’s the last two weeks. The Comets, after capturing their second consecutive Division III select title last December, are off to a 3-0 start with victories over Archbishop Shaw, Lutcher and Teurlings Catholic and are the No. 1 team in the Crescent City Sports Class 2A rankings.
Saturday’s game matches Karr and St. Aug in a district game for the second time ever. The Cougars moved up to Class 5A a year ago and defeated the Purple Knights 49-7 in their Catholic League debut.
Karr, third in this week’s CCS Class 5A rankings, is 3-0 after dominating performances against Landry, Scotlandville and Warren Easton. Last Friday, the Cougars roared to a 35-0 second-quarter lead en route to a 48-14 victory, though they allowed their first points of the season in the second half.
The Purple Knights are looking to bounce back from a 17-7 loss at Zachary last Friday. St. Augustine outscored McDonogh 35 and Landry by a combined 111-13 the first two weeks.
