De La Salle’s Lewis, South Lafourche’s Daniels Take Home Basketball POW Honors

Basketball honors are nominated by the school’s head coach. To nominate a student-athlete, the head coach may submit statistics, team win-loss records and other supporting information to by 10AM each Tuesday.

Girl’s Player of the Week: Danai Lewis, Junior, Forward, De La Salle

Stat Line (Jan. 16-22): 23.2 PPG; 13.0 RPG; 3.0 APG

Lewis averaged 23 points per game while helping lead De La Salle to an undefeated mark on the week while facing staunch defensive efforts by multiple defenders in each game. She also passed the 1,000 point career mark in the process.

Boy’s Player of the Week: Brandon “BJ” Daniels, Senior, Forward, South Lafourche

Stat Line (Jan. 16-22): 35.0 PPG; 15.5 RPG; 5.0 APG

Daniels led an all-out offensive attack in a pair of wins for South Lafourche last week. In two games, he averaged a double-double with 35 points per game as well as 15.5 rebounds per game. Against Central Catholic, Daniels scored half of the team’s 64 total points along with six rebounds, five steals, four assists and four blocks. He added 38 points and 25 rebounds in the Tarpons’ victory over Assumption.
