Gov. Edwards to Sign Executive Order Allowing 50% Capacity at High School Athletic Events in Some Parishes

BATON ROUGE – Governor Jon Bel Edwards announced Thursday afternoon that he will sign an order that allows high school sports outdoors to move to 50% capacity for fans, up from 25%, in parishes with lower percents of positive COVID tests.

The percent positivity for parishes has to be less than 5% for two weeks. Right now 26 parishes qualify to have their high school stadiums at 50% under the order Edwards will sign, effective tomorrow.

If a parish gets back to 10% test positivity, the occupancy for all athletic venues reverts back to 25%.

The following parishes allowed to compete with 50% starting tomorrow: Assumption, Avoyelles, Catahoula, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Grant, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Orleans, Rapides, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, St.Tammany, Terrebonne, Vermilion, West Feliciana, Winn
