Alex Lagasse was feeding strikes to opposing hitters in appearances on the mound as the senior pitcher helped John Curtis cap off a perfect outing last week with a complete-game shutout victory.

In a normal high school baseball game, seven innings are played in which 21 outs are recorded. If perfect, a pitcher could toss 63 pitches. Lagasse was near-perfect on Saturday in a 10-0 shutout win over Chalmette where he worked all seven innings giving up just one hit, no runs and no walks. What was more impressive was that he only needed 56 pitches to get the job done, well below the minimum need to toss a perfect game. Efficiency at its finest.

The senior pitcher added another scoreless inning earlier in the week against E.D. White where he gave up just two hits. In total, he worked eight innings, surrendering three hits and no runs or walks while striking out two batters.
