LHSAA Discloses Details Regarding Newman Basketball Probe

by Hunter Bower // Managing Editor

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) has responded to revelations that an official from Isidore Newman School shared confidential information with the media regarding its boys’ basketball investigation.

According to LHSAA officials, the disclosure prompted the organization to release an extensive report outlining the investigation, alleged violations, and its conclusions. The materials unveiled by the LHSAA provide further insight into a complex recruitment procedure at Newman, purportedly encompassing direct recruitment by head coach Randy Livingston as well as other allegations that instigated the association’s inquiry.

The release of the findings is the latest chapter in an ongoing story dating back to earlier this season as the LHSAA imposed forfeitures against the Newman basketball team and suspended Livingston for one season. However, the school obtained a temporary restraining order against the LHSAA’s ruling, allowing Newman and its coach to participate in the postseason and eventually advance to the Select Division III state title game where the Greenies defeated University Lab, 59-46.
