North Central’s Lavergne, Salmen’s Nastasia Earn Basketball POW Honors (Jan. 30-Feb. 4)

Girl’s Player of the Week: Zoe Nastasia, Sophomore, Forward, Salmen

Stat Line (Jan. 30-Feb. 4): 19.7 PPG; 9.3 RPG; 3.3 APG

Nastasia has been on a tear as of late, averaging nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds in her last three outings while helping Salmen stay in the race for a share of the District 8-4A title. The sophomore forward turned in double-double efforts in two of her three games last week while continuing to play an integral part in her team’s success as a sophomore.

Boy’s Player of the Week: De’Vion Lavergne, Senior, Guard, North Central

Stat Line (Jan. 30-Feb. 4): 23.7 PPG; 10.0 RPG; 6.7 APG

Lavergne was celebrated as being a 1000-point scorer following last Saturday’s 89-70 against Class 3A Ville Platte. In a win that extended the Hurricane’s win streak to six, the senior guard recorded a triple-double with 29 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists. He nearly averaged a triple-double in three games and led North Central to two district-clinching victories against Catholic-PC and Sacred Heart.
