In the heart of Louisiana’s basketball fervor, where the hardwood is graced with the tenacity and skill of young athletes, one standout player has emerged to claim the title of GeauxPreps.com Girls Basketball Player of the Week. This prestigious weekly honor, generously sponsored by S3 Physical Therapy of Lake Charles, recognizes excellence on the court, and this week’s recipient is none other than the formidable Courtlyn Rideau of Opelousas.

Rideau, a senior forward, left an indelible mark on the court last week, showcasing a multifaceted skill set that contributed significantly to her team’s unblemished start to the 2023-2024 season. Opelousas can attribute much of its success to Rideau’s outstanding performances, as she averaged double-figures in scoring, rebounding, and blocks.

Over the course of three games, Rideau displayed an impressive scoring touch, averaging 16.5 points per game. Her ability to dominate the boards was equally remarkable, pulling down an average of 10.1 rebounds per contest. As if that weren’t enough, Rideau demonstrated her playmaking prowess with four assists, highlighting her versatility on the court.

However, what truly set Rideau apart this week was her shot-blocking prowess. A defensive stalwart in the paint, she averaged a staggering seven blocks per game. Opponents quickly found that penetrating the paint with Rideau standing guard was no easy task, as she swatted away shot attempts with authority.
