The Bossier High boys soccer team has the ultimate opportunity to cap off a historic season Thursday afternoon as they make their way down to Hammond for the LHSAA State Soccer Championships.

Head coach Orlando Medellin is set to lead his team onto the pitch for its first-ever appearance in a state soccer championship matchup as the Bearkats prepare to battle The Willow School for the Division III title.

The state title showdown serves as a rematch from an early season tournament contest that saw the two squads battle to a tie.

Bossier has become a bit of an expert at first-time experiences this season as it hosted its first semifinal match in school history, a 1-0 victory over powerhouse St. Louis. They also hosted their first quarterfinals contest in the history of the program.

The Bearkats hope to become the first Bossier/Shreveport area school to win a state boys soccer championship since Caddo Magnet in 2008 and the first traditional public school since Carencro in 2006.
