Predictions: Where We Were right … Where We Were Wrong …

Where We Were Right

#7 Ascension Episcopal vs #1 Vermilion Catholic

In a back-and-forth battle, Vermilion Catholic defeated Ascension Episcopal, keeping their undefeated season alive. Jonathan Dartez was sensational, carrying the ball 40 times for 282 rushing yards and scoring four touchdowns. With this victory, Vermilion Catholic handed Ascension Episcopal their first loss of the season.

#6 Oak Grove vs #9 Mangham

In a hard-fought battle, #6 Oak Grove moves past #9 Mangham with a 26-20 victory. Mangham came out strong with a dominant ground game, scoring in just two plays to take an early lead. Oak Grove responded as Louisiana Tech commit Jackson Bradley powered into the end zone, but Mangham’s relentless rushing attack pushed them ahead again, 12-6. Oak Grove tied it up at 12, leading to a defensive stalemate marked by goal-line stands and key interceptions. Late in the game, Oak Grove surged ahead 20-18 and added two more scores to secure the 26-20 win.

#10 Central vs #4 Catholic-BR

#4 Catholic High topped #10 Central 24-14, powered by 179 rushing yards, with Rylan Parker leading the Bears with 106 yards on the ground. Catholic set the tone early with a crucial 4th-and-9 touchdown pass from Baylor Graves to Alex Huffine. The Bears methodically extended drives throughout the game, controlling the clock and keeping Central’s defense on the field. Central scored late to cut the lead, but Catholic’s balanced attack proved too much to overcome as they held on for the win.

Where We Were Wrong

#6 Neville vs #1 Ruston

Ruston’s win streak came to an end as the No. 6 Neville Tigers defeated the No. 1 ranked Bearcats 26-21 in a heavyweight contest. Ruston struggled with inefficiency, committing 13 penalties for 127 yards and punting on five of nine drives. Despite a strong performance by running back Josh Brantley, who scored two touchdowns, Neville capitalized on key third-down conversions and special teams plays, including a 71-yard kickoff return touchdown. Neville’s sophomore quarterback Parker Robinson threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns, leading his team to victory. Neville was able to get crucial first downs late in the game to run out the clock, a huge win for the Tigers!
