The History of SWLA Baseball To Be Highlighted With Summer Exhibit

The History of Southwest Louisiana Baseball exhibit will be on display at the Henning Cultural Center in Sulphur this summer from June 3 – July 20, held in conjunction with the Brimstone Museum. The exhibit will honor Southwest Louisiana Major League stars throughout SWLA (Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jeff Davis Parishes).

Featured in the Exhibit:
• Minor Leagues in SWLA
• High School Championships
• Negro Leagues
• 75th Anniversary of Sulphur Parks & Recreation
• Louisiana High School Athletic Association History of Baseball at McMurry Park
• SWLA Collegiate players & Minor League players

A free reception will be held Saturday, June 3 from 4-7 p.m. where this year’s LHSAA state baseball champions will be honored as well as those who participated in the state tournament. In addition to recognizing the high school level, the area’s major league players, past and present will also be honored. Team members, coaches, and school staff are encouraged to attend for some photo opportunities.

Following the reception, a movie – The Sandlot”, will be played. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite baseball jersey. Sulphur High School Band will provide baseball-themed food for concessions.
