Acadiana

No. 7/5 Carencro (2-3) at No. 6/7 Teurlings Catholic (5-0)

Rebel Stadium • Lafayette, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

Teurlings Catholic has asserted its dominance early and often this season and brings an undefeated slate into Friday’s district contest with defending Class 4A champion Carencro. Behind the arm of quarterback Preston Welch, the Rebels are averaging over 36 points per game with their closest win coming against Breaux Bridge last week in a 20-12 triumph. Carencro has struggled against some stiff competition but bounced back with a 45-12 win over a talented St. Martinville squad last week. Can the Teurlings offense continue to create its magic or can Carencro slow down the Rebel train to begin district play with a win?

Capital Area

No. 1/1 University Lab (5-0) at No. 10 Brusly (5-0)

Brusly Stadium • Brusly, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

In a battle of the undefeated, Brusly welcomes the might University Lab Cubs into town for a district showdown. The two are set to collide in what could live up to as one of the games of the year. Brusly blanked Collegiate of Baton Rouge, 84-0, last week while University recorded its third consecutive shutout with a 57-0 win over Glen Oaks. The Cubs are holding their opponents to less than a touchdown per game while Brusly has scored 140 points in its last three outings. One defense will have to do whatever it takes to prevail.

Central Louisiana

Jonesboro-Hodge (4-1) at Bunkie (3-1)

Gene Britton Stadium • Bunkie, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

Jonesboro-Hodge is off to one of its best starts in recent years with a few hard-earned victories along the way. Friday doesn’t get any easier for the Tigers as they travel to take on Bunkie, whose only loss has come to undefeated Avoyelles. Despite a loss to open the season, J-Hodge has rolled in their last three on-field games, including a double-overtime victory over North Webster last week. Bunkie has yet to defeat a team with a record over .500. Can the Panthers do what it takes to take down the red-hot Jonesboro Tigers?

Greater New Orleans

No. 4/3 Brother Martin (3-0) vs. Archbishop Rummel (3-0)

Joe Yenni Stadium • New Orleans, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

Another district matchup. Another clash of undefeated teams. The Catholic League is no place of rest for the weary. It will prove to be true again as Brother Martin and Rummel face each other in a battle for District 9-5A supremacy. The Raiders outlasted Shaw, 20-17, last Saturday while the Crusaders handled St. Augustine in a 45-21 victory. Expect nothing but the best from both squads as Joe Yenni will be rocking Friday night.

Northeast Louisiana

No. 4/3 Sterlington (5-0) at No. 5/6 Union Parish (3-2)

Doc Elliot Stadium • Farmerville, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

It’s the game that northeast Louisiana has been waiting for. The Sterlington Panthers finally get a chance to get their paws on the talented Farmers of Union Parish Friday night to open District 2-3A play. Sterlington comes into the game with a 5-0 mark on the year highlighted by wins over Mangham, North DeSoto and Jennings. Union Parish took down Many in the first game of the year but fell to Class 5A clubs at Captain Shreve and Ouachita Parish. Each squad has been heavily tested and are battle-ready for what could wind up as a classic matchup of offenses. Can the Panthers seek revenge after a 35-14 loss to the Farmers in last season’s meeting?

Northwest Louisiana

No. 6/4 Homer (4-1) at No. 2/2 Calvary Baptist (4-1)

Jerry Barker Stadium • Shreveport, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

One team sits atop of Class 1A while the other is determined to take its rightful place among the elite in this District 1-1A contest. Outside of a loss to Class 5A Archbishop Rummel, Calvary Baptist has rolled over all opponents including three district wins by a combined score of 190-26. Cavalier senior QB Landry Lyddy leads the state in passing while wide receiver Aubrey Hermes sits among the top of the state receiving yardage list. Can the Homer Pelicans put a stop to the district winning streak? Pelican QB Takeviuntae Kidd and company hope to spoil the party with their fast-paced offensive attack. Look for a high-scoring game well inside the 60-point range.

Northshore

Covington (3-2) at St. Paul’s (3-1)

St. Paul’s Football Stadium • Covington, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

Covington and St. Paul’s is one of the best matchups taking place on the Northshore Friday night. The cross-town foes will battle to remain in the race for the District 6-5A title while also vying for the ever-important power points for postseason play. Covington hopes to grab its first road win of the year while St. Paul’s looks to remain undefeated at home. A lot to vie for in this year’s edition of the district contest.

South Central

Donaldsonville (4-0) at E.D. White (3-0)

Harvey Peltier Stadium • Thibodaux, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

Donaldsonville hits the road for an important league contest against E.D. White Friday as both squads battle to remain undefeated on the season. The Tigers have handled their competition so far this season, limiting opponents to 7.5 points per game while the Cardinals have held its foes to just 12 points on the season while averaging 30 points per win against all Class 4A squads. In what could be a decision for the district title, expect an all-out war with a close finish at the end.

Southwest Louisiana

Lake Charles Prep (2-3) at Westlake (5-0)

Max Calderera Stadium • Westlake, Louisiana • Friday, Oct. 8 • 7 PM

Lake Charles Prep has officially set out on its revenge tour. The Trailblazers are banking on a gruesome pre-district schedule to have helped prepare them for a tough fight in District 4-3A. Their mettle will be tested Friday night when they battle against undefeated Westlake at Max Calderera Stadium. The Rams are off to their best start in a decade following a win over Welsh last weekend while the Blazers have lost their last two contests to De La Salle and Westgate. In what will be just its second road game on the year, LCCP hopes to snap its losing skid with an important district victory. However, the staunch defense of Westlake will be determined to stop the talented Trailblazer offense. Either way, expect the final score to be within a touchdown.
