Week 1: GeauxPreps Names Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week

Aymaud Sykes – Grant High School
Grant’s Aymaud Sykes put on a historic performance in the Cougars’ week 1 shootout against Montgomery, rushing for 420 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns in the 76-50 victory.
According to the NFHS (National Federation of High Schools) record book, Sykes’ 10 rushing touchdowns tie him with six others for fourth most in high school football history. John Cook of Nebraska stands atop the list with 13 rushing touchdowns in one game. Congratulations to Aymaud on an incredible accomplishment.
Chantz Babineaux – Carencro High School
Our defensive player of the week is Chantz Babineaux of Carencro High, who delivered a performance to remember in the Bears’ win over St. Thomas More.
Babineaux sparked the game with a 68-yard interception return for a touchdown and later sealed the victory with a game-ending interception in the endzone, helping Carencro defeat St. Thomas More for the first time since 2006.
