West Monroe, Lutcher, and Port Allen Dominate LHSAA State Powerlifting Championships with Impressive Victories

LAFAYETTE – The third day of the LHSAA state powerlifting championships witnessed an intense battle in the Girl’s Divisions I, II, and III, with remarkable displays of strength and determination on full display.

In Division I, West Monroe emerged as the triumphant team, clinching a third consecutive title and marking its dominance with a total of 38 points. Despite securing just one first-place finish, West Monroe’s collective effort proved insurmountable for their competitors. Covington put up a commendable performance, securing the second position with 30 points and boasting one individual state champion.

Over in Division II, the Lutcher Bulldogs continued their reign of supremacy, extending their remarkable streak to 17 consecutive years as state champions. Their dominance was truly awe-inspiring, as they amassed a staggering 66 points, bolstered by the remarkable performances of six individual state champions. Grant exhibited a strong showing, clinching the runner-up position with 34 points and celebrating two first-place individual finishes.

In the fiercely contested Division III, Port Allen showcased their unwavering determination, clinching its sixth consecutive title and adding to their storied legacy with 45 total points. With two individual state champions leading the charge, Port Allen’s dominance was palpable. However, Church Point proved to be a worthy adversary, finishing second with 39 points and boasting two individual championship finishes.
