Jonesboro-Hodge had one of the best turnaround seasons a year ago, winning 11 games and advancing to the state semifinals.
The Tigers hope to build on the hard work put into bringing the program back to prominence in 2022 but it won't be for the faint of heart. Despite, returning back the nucleus of a talented, hard-nosed defense, head coach Terrance Blankenship is tasked with breaking down the offense and rebuilding a unit that lost five key starters.
One of those positions includes quarterback duties that will be passed on to a new player who will be tasked with filling the signal-caller role while three receiving positions are up for grabs after losing the starters to graduation. In the ground game, the Tigers will have to look to its underclassmen to step up and continue to control the ground game.
On defense, four-star prospect Xavier Atkins (180 total tackles, 10 sacks, 2 INT) returns to lead a loaded unit that is expected to pick up the slack until the offense finds it identity. Atkins will team with senior defensive back Cameron Leonard (74 tackles) while Peyton Smith (111 total tackles, 1 sack) will be a key figure in the trenches to help stop some of the most potent offenses in the northern part of Louisana.
Jonesboro moves into a new district along with state runner-up Many as well as Red River, rival Winnfield, Mansfield and Lakewview.
