2023 Preview

The expectations are always lofty in Lutcher and this year is no different.

On the heels of scoring its first state title in six years, head coach Dwain Jenkins' squad is hungry to get back to New Orleans in December but will have to do so without one of its biggest offensive producers.

The Bulldogs will have to adjust following the departure of all-state quarterback D'Wanye Winfield, who accounted for 70 touchdowns during last year's title run. The offense will also see a major youth movement with only four total starters returning while the offensive line looks to have the potential to start four underclassmen with one returning starter expected to return

The majority of experience returns on the Lutcher defensive unit with nine starters coming back as well as two additional members that were starters a year ago before injuries sidelined them. Head coach Dwain Jenkins expects the defense to gel quickly as it continually grew as a unit that limited the opposition to an average of two touchdowns per game.
