2022 Preview
The Falcons soared towards a District 1-4A title a year ago and head coach Austin Brown's squad has the talent to be in the mix again in 2022.
Despite only returning eight total starters, Northwood's expectations remain high as it brings back some of the best skill players in the state. However, they will have to adjust quickly as they face a tough pre-district slate with the likes of Benton, Wossman and Airline.
On offense, veteran quarterback Mason Welch (1,868 yards, 17 TDs) returns to lead the Falcons along with returning leading rusher Quintavion White and top target Marc Denison. Some work will need to be done on the line with the loss of all-state selection Andre Walker and Grambling signee Denterial Jordan.
A wealth of talent returns on the defensive side as four-star prospect MarJayvios Moss prepares to lead Northwood for his senior season and will team with top D1 prospect TaDerius Collins who will help to shut down the offensive from within the trenches. Ja'Marion Kennedy will also provide another level of protection on each side of the ball as the senior lineman is expected to play left tackle and defensive end.
In district play, the Falcons play host to Huntington (Sept. 22), Evangel (Oct. 7), Minden (Oct. 14) and Woodlawn-SH (Oct. 27) while traveling to district newcomer Bossier (Sept. 30) as well as Booker T. Washington-SH (Oct. 21) and North DeSoto (Nov. 4) to close out the regular season.
