2023 Preview
The Oak Grove Tigers enter the 2023 football season with high expectations as the defending Non-Select Division IV state champions.
Under the leadership of Coach Ryan Gregory, who is entering his 10th year at the helm, the Tigers have been a dominant force in recent years, securing state titles in three of the last four seasons. Despite losing some key players, the team remains confident in their ability to maintain their winning tradition.
With a solid core group of 16 returning lettermen, including 6 offensive starters and 8 defensive starters, Oak Grove is well-positioned to continue their success on the gridiron. The team's 2022 overall record of 12-3 serves as a testament to their resilience and determination, and they aim to build upon this foundation in the upcoming season.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Tigers will be led by the promising junior quarterback, Jackson Bradley. Bradley had a standout sophomore season, amassing over 2,000 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. His experience and skill will be vital in guiding the team's offense to victory.
While Oak Grove must bid farewell to All-State selections Kam Franklin and John Carter O’Neal, who have moved on to college football, they do have returning stars in J.T. Layton and James Harris. Layton and Harris are expected to spearhead the Tigers' efforts to defend their state title and lead the team to further success.
Coach Gregory acknowledges that replacing some key players will be a challenge, but he remains optimistic about the team's prospects. With a stronger district to contend with in 2023, Oak Grove will face formidable opponents, but their seasoned roster and determined mindset will make them a force to be reckoned with.
As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on the Oak Grove Tigers to see if they can continue their reign as one of the state's premier football programs. With talent, experience, and a championship-winning pedigree, the Tigers are gearing up for an exciting and competitive season ahead.
