The Oakdale Warriors, after finishing in third place in District 4-2A a season ago, will look to improve upon their second-round playoff exit during the 2023 campaign. But it won’t be easy as the Warriors lost a number of key players from last year’s 8-3 squad, especially on offense, where running back Cedrick Allison, quarterback Cade Dauzat and offensive linemen Ashton Hayden and William Deville all departed due to graduation.

“We have quite a few returning skill players who will need to make some plays for us until our very youthful linemen can gain some experience,” fifth-year head coach Destin Dieterich said. “ We only lost seven seniors, but they made up a very large portion of the production. Quality depth up front will probably be our biggest challenge. But with so many coaching changes in the district, there is still a great deal of unknown about what to expect.”

Defensively, the Warriors will base out of the 4-3 scheme, being led by senior linebackers Derrick Green, Ruffin George and Charles Shird. Seniors Aidan Valle and Wyatt Johnson will anchor the defensive front on a unit that returns a total of seven starters and will likely be one of the strengths of the team.

Offensively, Green and George should line up as the primary running backs in the veer, while newcomer Daekota Johnson, a senior, should handle the snaps from center. Valle and Johnson should provide some stability up front as the remainder of the line gains valuable experience. Junior Conner Vinson should also provide leadership at tight end, while Elijah Anderson is expected to be the primary threat receiving.
