2022 Preview

After three consecutive trips to the state finals, the Eagles will have a different look this season with just three offensive starters returning from a year ago.

OCS was fortunate to bring back several skill players but the concern is on the offensive line as head coach Steve Fitzhugh mentioned that the unit will need to grow up quick in order for the high-octane offense to put points on the board. Despite the loss of all-state selections Tristan Wiley and Andy Weatherford, the Eagles return top passer Landon Graves (2,662 yards, 34 TDs passing) as well as 1,000 yard rusher in Chad Strickland. Senior Broc Hogan looks to become the leader of the receiver corps following the departure of Wiley.

Defense should be the strong point for Ouachita Christian in 2022 with eight starters returning including leading tackler from last year Noah Lovelady (134 tackles, seven sacks 1 INT) as well as junior Zach White (94 tackles, 3 INT).

The Eagles welcome border foe Watson Chapel, AR to Monroe in the first week of the season and also have Oak Grove coming to town the next week to start out the non-district slate. Other opponents include Mansfield, Tensas, Ouachita Parish and West Marion, MS.

In district play, the Eagles host St. Frederick and Cedar Creek while traveling to River Oaks and the newest member to 2-1A in Lincoln Prep.
