Team roster

Marcuz Yanez has been tasked with keeping the ship steered in the right direction since he landed at Richwood in 2019.

Although the Rams have fought tough over the last few years, the results have not been what they had hoped coming off an impressive run in 2017 with an appearance in the state title game.

However, Yanez hopes that luck changes in 2022 with a strong nucleus of experienced players returning on both sides of the ball. Offensively, with six starters coming back from a year ago, the Rams will have to find their identity quickly against a tough schedule but consistency returns with junior Dantavion Nabors back to take over the snaps at quarterback.

Richwood will be tough to match up with on defense as the Rams return all 11 starters from last season including Division 1 prospect KeShawn Reed (72 tackles, 6 sacks, 1 INT) as well as senior safety Jayleen Butler. Teaming with Reed in the trenches is senior end Anthony Oatis, who totaled four sacks in 2021.

The Rams open the season on the road at Ferriday with other non-district contests with Rayville, West Ouachita and Lincoln Prep.

In a newly formed District 1-3A, Richwood will have its hands full with home games against Sterlington, Wossman and Union Parish while traveling to North Webster, Carroll and Bastrop.
