2023 preview

The Riverside Academy Rebel football team enters the 2023 season with high expectations following a strong performance last year. Under the leadership of Head Coach Lee Roussel, who has been at the helm for two years now, the team has shown steady progress. In 2022, they finished with an impressive 9-2 overall record, going undefeated with a perfect 5-0 district record. With their sights set on even greater achievements, the Rebels are gearing up for an exciting season ahead.

One of the team's biggest strengths lies in their experienced defense and offensive line. With nine returning defensive starters and 13 returning lettermen overall, the Rebels have a solid foundation to build upon. Their defense, battle-tested and cohesive, will be a force to be reckoned with in the district. On the offensive line, the team will lean on the experience of their returning starters to provide protection and open up opportunities for their playmakers.

While the defensive core remains intact, the offensive side will see some changes with only three starters returning. The departure of key players like Elijah Davis, Luke Hymel, Cade Middleton, and Scott White creates opportunities for new faces to step up and make their mark. The coaching staff, however, is confident in their ability to develop the next generation of offensive stars.

Looking at the bigger picture, the Rebels are expected to be a stronger team overall in 2023 compared to the previous year. Despite some key losses, the team's experience and depth on defense should compensate for any offensive adjustments. In the district, they are likely to perform at a similar level as they did in 2022, remaining competitive and dominant.

As the season approaches, all eyes will be on the Riverside Academy Rebel football team. With a well-rounded squad, a talented defense, and a coaching staff committed to success, they are primed to make a deep run in the playoffs and leave their mark on the 2023 football season.
